Each year, the EERC recognizes five employees who exemplify our core values: Be Safe, Be Ethical, Be Engaged, Be Effective, and Be Professional. These individuals go above and beyond in their roles, demonstrating exceptional dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence. Congratulations to this year’s honorees!

Be Safe Core Value Award

The 2024 Be Safe Core Value Award recognizes Chris Rash for his outstanding commitment to safety across the EERC. From contributing to research setups and identifying critical safety protocols to advocating for continuous safety improvements, Chris plays a vital role in ensuring a culture of safety. His expertise in communication and training has been instrumental in educating colleagues through safety demonstrations and outreach efforts. Additionally, his work with emergency responders nationwide has enhanced awareness of safety practices, particularly regarding innovative hydrogen use. As a mentor in hydrogen safety, Chris ensures that future leaders are well-prepared to navigate this evolving field. Congratulations on this well-earned recognition!  

Be Ethical Core Value Award

The 2024 Be Ethical Core Value Award is presented to Nick Stanislowski for his unwavering commitment to ethical research practices, safety, and resource management. Known for his meticulous approach to precision engineering research, Nick upholds the highest standards even when working independently. His ability ability to communicate and implement innovative solutions in underserved areas showcases his dedication to integrity and resourcefulness. By assessing risks, eliminating hazards, and ensuring efficient use of funds, Nick contributes significantly to the EERC’s mission. Always enthusiastic, supportive, and willing to help others succeed, Nick embodies what it means to be ethical. Congratulations!  

Be Engaged Core Value Award

The recipient of the 2024 Be Engaged Core Value Award, Brock Callina, has demonstrated remarkable leadership and mentorship, particularly during a period of transition within his department. As a trusted go-to person, Brock provides critical guidance to newer colleagues while effectively managing complex reporting requirements. Brock’s engagement spans across technical and nontechnical groups, external clients, and financial processes, ensuring clarity and transparency in every interaction. A recent graduate of the Chamber Leadership Program, he played a crucial role in the Heartland Hydrogen Hub contracting process, consistently delivering what was needed with precision and reliability. His dedication to engagement and teamwork makes him truly deserving of this award. Congratulations!  

Be Effective Core Value Award

The 2024 Be Effective Core Value Award honors Shannan Longsdorf, a “silent warrior” whose behind-the-scenes work ensures efficiency and success. Known for her expertise, attention to detail, and ability to solve problems seamlessly, she consistently meets deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude. Shannan plays an active role in mentoring colleagues, stepping in to provide backup whenever needed. Her extensive knowledge of finance and payroll has been invaluable, especially during transitions to new systems and unexpected challenges. Through her diligence and expertise, Shannan ensures that operations run smoothly and that everyone gets paid, always doing so with a smile. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!  

Be Professional Core Value Award

The 2024 Be Professional Core Value Award is presented to Kellie Ebertowski for her exceptional ability to organize and coordinate complex projects with professionalism and precision. Her proactive communication keeps teams informed, allowing for strategic decision-making and efficient project execution. By developing a strategic communication tool to track contract activities, Kellie has enhanced transparency and collaboration across multiple projects. Managing intricate contract terms, funding structures, and regulatory processes with accuracy and a great sense of humor, Kellie exemplifies professionalism at the highest level. Congratulations!
