Dr. Chunxiao Li is a Reservoir Engineer at the EERC, where her work involves solving advanced challenges in unconventional reservoirs such as analysis of production mechanisms, diagnosis of production problems, hydraulic fracturing with different fluids, CO2/gas enhanced oil recovery, high-volume gas storage, advanced reservoir-monitoring techniques, and application of artificial intelligence/machine learning algorithms in unconventional reservoirs. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Geological Engineering from UND and M.S. and B.S. degrees in Geological Engineering from China University of Petroleum, Beijing.
Chunxiao’s principal areas of interest and expertise include application of simulation tools to do reservoir history matching and predict long-term reservoir performance and multiscale rock mechanical behavior analysis. She has authored or coauthored numerous peer-reviewed and other professional publications.
Chunxiao has been working at the EERC in various roles since 2017 and graduated from UND in August 2020. She has enjoyed her new role because she likes working on exciting and challenging research.
Chunxiao is from the Shandong Province in China and moved to Grand Forks with her husband in 2016. She had a baby girl in May 2020. When she’s not at work, Chunxiao enjoys spending time with her daughter, walking outside, and cooking.
