Dr. Sohini Sur is a Senior Geologist at the EERC, where she interfaces with a diverse team of scientists and engineers to assess project uncertainties in oil and gas development and geologic CO2 storage, including geophysical modeling of the subsurface, regional geological characterization, and petrophysical analysis of geophysical well log data. Sohini holds a Ph.D. degree in Geology from the University of Oklahoma, Norman; an M.S. degree in Geology from Indiana University, Bloomington; an M.S. degree in Applied Geology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India; and a B.S. degree in Applied Geology from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. Prior to her position at the EERC, she served as a Geologist on the Reservoir Characterization Team at CNPC USA Corporation in Houston, Texas, and as an Exploration Geologist at Shell, Houston.
Sohini’s principal areas of interest and expertise include evaluation of unconventional and conventional carbonate and clastic reservoirs, new venture exploration, field development, and project management. Sohini has authored and coauthored numerous peer-reviewed articles and other publications.
Sohini was interested in her new role because it allows her to use her previous experience while continuing to learn and develop expertise in new areas of responsibility. She grew up in India and enjoys running and hiking. She recently started crafting and creating art.
