Samantha Olson is a Senior Budget Analyst and manages the Budget Analysis Group at the EERC, where she supports researchers, project managers, and senior management in the areas of cost management, personnel planning and projections, cost projections, developing detailed cost proposals, and managing and overseeing multiple project budgets. Samantha holds an M.B.A. from North Dakota State University, a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of North Dakota, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
Samantha was recommended for her new role by a former colleague and current EERC employee and appreciates that the EERC is working on projects that will make a lasting impact on North Dakota and the world. “The work done for energy at the EERC is very impressive and important to our community,” Samantha said. “I’m motivated by facts and data, and I’m excited to be in a position that allows me to use those for decision making.”
Samantha grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and moved to Grand Forks to attend UND. She and her husband, Derek, have a 2-year-old son and currently reside in Grand Forks. In her free time, Samantha enjoys cooking, cheering on the UND hockey team, and teaching water aerobics at the YMCA.
