Brent Lahr is a Senior Software Development Engineer at the EERC, where he works on a team of programmers and database administrators who develop software and websites for internal and external clients. He is responsible for designing, creating, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining software applications (desktop, web-based, and mobile), many of which are database-driven. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from UND. Prior to his position at the EERC, he served as a Systems Engineering Manager at Northrop Grumman Corporation.
Brent’s principal areas of interest and expertise include web, desktop, and mobile application development; SQL Server database design and query development; and Agile software development methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework, and Test-Driven Development.
The opportunity to contribute to software development at the EERC interested Brent in this role. He enjoys problem-solving, learning new things, and working with clients and team members to provide new solutions. Brent previously worked at the EERC from 2008 to 2014 as a Programmer Analyst and Research Information Systems Manager. He is excited to be rejoining the EERC working with new and familiar faces.
Brent grew up on a small dairy farm in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. He moved to Grand Forks in 2001 to attend UND and studied Aviation Management. He and his wife Amy have six children ranging in age from 1 to 13 years old. He enjoys spending time with his family, biking, gardening, camping, fishing, reading, and brewing beer.
